Portfolio Management~ How Your Investments Are Managed After we have worked with you to establish your personal investment goals, we design and manage your individual portfolio(s) using one or more of the distinct styles you choose. Available portfolio management styles are: SLIA Value "+" Equity This is the classic method of what is often referred to as "bottom up" investing, in which the basic fundamental attractiveness of individual companies, rather than stock market or sector levels is the primary consideration. The total process in the methodology is a proprietary system that Saint Louis Investment Advisors developed as a result of over three years of research and over 20 billion calculations. Although it is complex in its formulas and details, it can be summarized as this: Fundamental Analysis Over 10,000 issues are screened to determine if they meet our balance sheet and income statement requirements for sound fundamental values that are greater than their current market price. These requirements are weighted based on our independent research into value weightings and an eligibility list by ranking is developed. The highest rated issues are then subjected to the next screen, which is Accumulation/Distribution Analysis Through neural net and expert systems research, we have established those combinations of price, volume, and time indicators that have a high correlation in determining whether an issue is under accumulation or distribution. We apply these factors to the fundamentally attractive list to determine which issues are buy and which are sell candidates. SLIA Value "+" Sector Select For the more aggressive investor our Value "+" Sector Select discipline determines which of thirty three sectors of the market (financials, automotive, etc.) are most attractive on a price performance basis and then identifies further the five most attractive stocks within each sector. The result is a fully invested portfolio of twenty five stocks. The optimal holding period for the issues will vary depending on market conditions; therefore, this methodology will generate a higher rate of portfolio turnover and short term capital gains than will the more conservative Value "+" Equity style. SLIA Value "+" International For investors wishing to diversify beyond domestic companies, SLIA Value "+" International offers such an opportunity. This style applies a methodology similar to that of SLIA Value "+" Sector Select, but limits the candidates for purchase to those foreign companies that afford liquidity and consistent accounting by virtue of being traded in U. S. markets. SLIA Value "+" Fixed Income For the conservative investor who wishes to
restrict his portfolio to government or corporate fixed income issues, our SLIA Value
"+" Fixed Income style is available. It incorporates both fundamental
interest rate analysis with technical indicators in the construction of fixed income
portfolios designed to minimize risk while providing income and the potential for capital
gain. Visit our Links page to see a list of some of our clients. |
